Anybody have a link for TaG tech rules for this year? I think some of the Rotax gang may be going that direction.

Andy,
Try www.tagracing.net (http://www.tagracing.net) . I'll be running TaG as much as work allows so to hear that RMax guys are more interested in TaG is great news to me! The Tag site has all engines rules, tires, you name it. Hope to see you guys on a Sun practice and at the March race.

Excellent Greg,
Thanks mate. Some of the Rotax guys want to qualify for regionals this year from what i gather, so they have to do the RMax license thing and the spec Mojos.
Some of the Masters guys only run for fun, and i'd rather go TaG instead rather than buy an RMax license and spend all the extra $$ on YHC's and Mojos. You might have more company this year than before.
Hopefully next sunday will be a little more forgiving weather wise, come on down when you can...
Cheers Greg,

Andy,
I don't know if I can change your mind on getting your Rotax license but I thought I would give it a shot. This year it is actually cheaper than any other year. You get a Rmax t-shirt, and a subscription to National Kart News, plus your license for $50. Last year we had to buy the t-shirt(if you wanted one) and no mag for $50. Plus because of the partnership with NKN there will most likely be a lot Rotax related articals.
Second, I thought Terrance selected YHC's for the spec tire although he reserved the right to change to Mojo's after 2 races. So you can run Rotax on YHC's for at least 2 races. I know a lot of guys don't like Mojos but the guys in Florida were telling me they were getting 4 weekends out of the same set. They did lose a little time after the magical 3-4 laps but after that they stayed about the same time. Not sure if that is true but that's what I heard.
For what it's worth I hope you race the Rotax class. Nothing agaist TAG and I have no idea whether TAG or Rotax will be bigger at BTK, but it's way more fun to have large class than a bunch of small classes.

Hey Carl,
Its no big deal really..
Its my first season racing and i'm just up there for fun like some of the rest.
I spend maybe $40-$50 a weekend out of pocket just coming up there to open the track for folks most weekends, and the budget dosen't extend to different sets of tires and licenses. I'd rather spend the money on other things.
Don't forget i'm at the track pretty much every weekend running, so no biggy.
Maybe next year for RMax...

When I am wrong I say I am wrong. I stated earlier that if yhc where not the spec. tire than I would run Tag. This is the wrong attitude for the track and karting. For anything to split up the rotax classes over changing the offical rules of the class is wrong. I will be buying the license and am looking forward to the mag. I also will run the tires that the club chooses. I still hope it is YHC but if it is mojo's I will be slip and sliding around in the rotax master class.
This club is not bigg enough yet to support Tag and Rotax classes unless the TAG is only used as an additional race for the Rotax class. For our club to continue to grow we must follow the offical rules. This will enable the club to bring in more racers for other area's. People from other places will not come to a track that is catering to the local racers instead of the offical sport of karting. Keeping this standing the club will continue to grow and less problems will occur. I realize that everyone will not always be in agreement on everything the club faces, However if we follow the offical rules of karting then we can agree that the club is headed in the right direction. Besides, Rotax is the most successful kart series in the history of karting so I must think that they know better than I.
I hope everyone will continue to run in the rotax classes. Tag will only cause more problems. To do it right we will have to have a tech. offical to monitor the motors that are not Sealed.
2nd. It will cost more than a set of tires and a license to be able to have the chance to run up front in tag. You would need a leopard motor at bckc they have been proven faster than the rotax. Also monitoring the different weights and stuff is just to much work for the club.
I posted this to state that I was wrong with the "Run to Tag attitude" and I hope anyone that read my earlier post will read this and come to the same thinking I did.
I would like to thank Carl for getting me thinking in the right direction again.

I say, run whatever you want...I'm sure we'll have a big Rotax class this year, and i think its great to stay with the RMax rules for the guys that want to use club points to go on to regionals.I'm really proud to have a few at the club.
I think we have a few TaG's in there too also. If the club cant support a TaG class then so be it. I remember though, watching a single RM-1 run on its own last year, and also a Comer.
A TaG class dosent necessarily have to follow national TaG specs like the RMax either. Not all of us at the club take the racing as the 'Be all, and end all' of karting. Some of us just like to have a good time every weekend at practice, and the racing is just a bonus.
When all's said and done, 95% of my time at the track involves practice and having a good time with everyone...Tires and a couple of races shouldn't spoil anyones fun in the long haul...
If we have a large Rotax turn out as i think we will, and you dont get past the first heat (???) then your'e day wouldnt necessarily be over.
See y'all next sunday with my YGK's.....lol
