I have too many unknowns and will try to shoot them 1 by 1.
There are two sedans in my garage and I'm leasing $10 trailer everywere we going with Comer 50. This was OK (if I forget about transmission and mpg of my car) until yesterday. In order to proceed farther, I need to know what equipment (size and cost) will be right for KidKart (soon cadet) and A-Max size karts.
What is the size of A-MAX ?
Will it fit in Toyota Tacoma ? Nissan Frontier ? Ford F150 ?
Exact size truck and U-Haul with KidKart is probably the cheapest way to go.
Please comment if you have any recommendations.

thnx

I have new Tacoma with the long bed and can get my CRG in the back fine (bed is wide enough to get the wheels inside) as well as all kinds of stuff under the kart. I have to leave the tailgate open. I also have 5x8 that has been lowered and can get a kart in the back with pretty much most of my gear in the back of that. I get about 16mpg pulling the trailer loaded.

I had a 6x12 that could hold three karts no problem and pulled it with the Suburban but only got 9-11mpg.

If you wanted to get creative you could build a rack for the Tacoma to hold the Arrow and then stick the kid kart under. If you needed even more storage you could put on one of those trailer hitch carriers. :D

With two karts, you probably won't want to go this route, but I'm just going to build a small enough open trailer to carry my kart, tools, and spares behind my little Porsche. 20 mpg of premium is a lot cheaper than 10 mpg of regular behind my Yukon! I need to sell the thing.

My CRG is about 54” at its widest point which is measured at the side-pods just in front of the rear wheels. While I haven’t actually tried this, based on the width it looks like I would have to remove the side pods and put the front tires in front of the wheel wells and the back tires behind them to get the kart in the back of my GMC Sierra. I’m not sure if it will fit with the tailgate up or not.

Paul,
My kart fit in the back of my dad's silverado fine without the sidepods. With the sidepods, the tailgate cannot close.

I have hauled mine in the back of a Silverado with one side pod removed no problem. I also knew a guy in Florida who hauled his CRG in the back of Honda Pilot.

You could build an open trailer that one kart goes on top of the other. Keep it small and neat and put just enough room for the got to have items. Then you could pull it with what you were pulling the rental trailer. The weight would be less than the inclosed trailer and the komer with a open light weight trailer set up like this. Just a my opinon

Anybody moving from open to enclosed? I'm looking for 5x8 or 5x10 (to fit also kidkart/minimax) open trailer. No car upgrade yet.

on the topic of mpg:
My WRX normally gets about 25mpg, but when towing my very smaller trailer, I get like 15mpg. Granted, the large gate on the trailer probably hurts, not to mention my very heavy foot.

I'm planning to move up to an enclosed trailer in the next few weeks (once I decide on a size), and I will need to part with my open trailer to clear out the carport. The trailer is a 4x8 (I believe), but I've already modified it to carry our kart on top of the rails. I'm not sure if there would be room to put the minimax under that or not, but if you can give me an idea of how tall it is, I can check this evening if you think you may be interested.

On a related note, any opinions on a minimum enclosed trailer size (and number of axles) to comfortably carry two karts, a toolbox, two fuel jugs, air tank, tire rack, and all the other miscellaneous gear?

8 x 32 goose neck paul. This is the min. you will be able to get by with. JK.

:D
Well, that's not exactly what I had in mind by "comfortably," but that'd sure do it. In a 32' trailer I bet I'd have room for the coffee maker, the cooler (make that refridgerator), the 60" plasma, and the jacuzzi. I wonder if I can get one with a butler to check air pressures for me? I can hear it now, "Master Anglin, your kart is ready for your victory lap sir."

Anyone in the club needing a trailer can contact Paul Pencola at P&T Trailers in Huntsville, AL. His phone number is 256-858-9911. He builds trailers at his facility and can build one cheaper than you can buy the materials and build it yourself. Paul will give anyone who is a member of Baker's Creek Kart Club a special discount. I've discussed the size requirements of karts with him already. Be sure to mention that you were referred by Mike Robinson, with nexAir.
